Client/Trust Matter to Matter Transfer
Overview
The Client/Trust Matter-to-Matter Transfer allows the Accounts Team to move client or trust credit funds from one matter to another within the system.
This guide focuses purely on processing the transfer, not on creating the requisition.
Quick Flow

| 1 | Open Source Matter → Navigate to the Client/Trust Ledger. |
| 2 | Click Matter to Matter Transfer → Open transfer window. |
| 3 | Review Available Balances → Confirm Client/Trust funds and Available funds. |
| 4 | Enter Transfer Details → Select account, enter amount, transfer date, and reason. |
| 5 | Select Target Matter → Start typing Matter Number/Name and select correct matter. |
| 6 | Post Transfer → Click Transfer. System updates balances in both source and target matters. |
Steps to Perform a Transfer
Step 1 – Navigate to the Source Matter
- Open the matter from which funds will be transferred.
- Select Client/Trust Ledger from the matter menu.
- Click Matter to Matter Transfer to open the transfer window.
Step 2 – Review Available Balances
- The Client/Trust funds balance will display automatically.
- Ensure there are sufficient funds available before proceeding.
Step 3 – Enter Transfer Details
- Account: Select the relevant account from the drop-down menu.
- Amount: Enter the amount to transfer.
- Transfer Date: Enter the date the transfer should be posted.
- Reason: Provide a clear reason for the transfer.
Step 4 – Select the Target Matter
- In the Transfer To section, start typing the Matter Number or Matter Name.
- Select the correct matter from the populated list.
Step 5 – Post the Transfer
- Click Transfer to post the transaction.
- The system will record the movement of funds between matters.
- Once posted, the Client/Trust funds balance in both the source and target matter will update automatically.
Best Practices
- Confirm the available funds before transferring.
- Always select the correct target matter to prevent misallocations.
- Document the reason for the transfer for internal controls.
